Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 8, 2026
AI Memory Guard ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Chrome extension, website, and related services.
1. Information We Collect
Chrome extension scope: AI Memory Guard runs only on the supported AI chat workspaces listed in the extension manifest and on AI Memory Guard service endpoints. It is not designed to read browsing activity across unrelated websites.
Supported AI chat hosts (matched by manifest host_permissions): claude.ai, chatgpt.com, chat.openai.com, gemini.google.com, grok.com, perplexity.ai, www.perplexity.ai. The extension reads page content and assistant responses on these hosts only when extension features are enabled. It does not read content from other websites.
AI Memory Guard service endpoints: the AI Memory Guard service endpoint (Memory Vault sync, account, and fact-check API). All transit between the extension and these endpoints uses TLS.
Chrome permissions requested (with rationale):
storage— local Chrome extension storage for feature settings, saved carryovers, thread-health state, and pending handoff data on your device.tabs— detect which supported AI workspace is in the active tab so Memory Guard features can attach to the right page; not used to enumerate or track tabs across unrelated sites.alarms— schedule periodic background checks (e.g., thread-health ticks, sync timing) without keeping a persistent service worker awake.offscreen— run isolated DOM/audio operations off the visible page when needed for memory capture or carryover composition.
Information You Provide:
- Email address (when you sign up for early access or create an account)
- Account credentials (email and password)
- Payment information (processed by our third-party payment processor; we do not store full payment details)
Information Collected Automatically:
- Memory data: Facts, decisions, preferences, corrections, summaries, and thread-health signals captured from supported AI conversations when extension features are enabled
- Fact-check and carryover data: Contradiction signals, confidence scores, saved carryovers, and injection status used to provide Memory Guard features
- Usage data: Features used, extension settings, diagnostic status, and platform usage patterns needed to operate and improve the service
- Device data: Browser type, operating system, extension version, and supported-platform host needed for compatibility and support
We do not collect unrelated browsing history, keystrokes, passwords, payment card numbers, or personal messages outside supported AI chat workspaces.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, maintain, and improve our services
- To sync your memories across supported AI platforms
- To provide thread-health alerts, carryover summaries, Memory Vault access, and fact-checking guardrails
- To process transactions and send related information
- To send you technical notices, updates, and support messages
- To respond to your comments, questions, and customer service requests
- To detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent or unauthorized activity
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share data in the following limited circumstances:
- Service Providers: Third-party vendors who assist in operating our services (hosting, payment processing, analytics)
- Legal Requirements: When required by law, regulation, or legal process
- Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets
We do not use your memory data for third-party advertising and do not share it with data brokers.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your memory data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.2+. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information. Memory data is stored on secure servers reachable through the AI Memory Guard service endpoint, with access controls and regular security review.
The extension also uses Chrome local storage for feature settings, saved carryovers, thread-health state, and pending handoff data. Local extension data remains in your browser profile unless it is synced to your AI Memory Guard account or deleted through browser or extension controls.
Account deletion and data export: You can delete your account through the extension settings; we remove your memory data from the Memory Vault within 30 days, as described in Section 7. You can also clear local extension storage immediately at any time through Chrome's chrome://extensions → AI Memory Guard → Site access / Storage controls.
5. Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are a resident of the European Economic Area, you have the following rights:
- Access: Request a copy of your personal data
- Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data
- Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data
- Portability: Request a portable copy of your data
- Restriction: Request restriction of processing
- Objection: Object to processing based on legitimate interests
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected].
6. Your Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information is collected, used, shared, or sold
- Delete personal information held by us
- Opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information)
- Non-discrimination for exercising your CCPA rights
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time through the extension settings. When you delete your account, we remove your memory data within 30 days.
Some local extension records, such as pending handoffs and temporary diagnostics, are short-lived or overwritten as you continue using the extension. You can also remove local extension data by clearing the extension's storage in Chrome.
8. Cookies and Tracking
Our website (aimemoryguard.com) uses minimal, essential cookies for functionality. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. Our extension does not inject cookies into the supported AI platforms (claude.ai, chatgpt.com, gemini.google.com, grok.com, perplexity.ai).
The extension may store local identifiers or settings in Chrome extension storage to keep Memory Guard features working across supported AI chat pages. These are not advertising cookies. The AI Memory Guard service endpoint sets only authentication and session cookies needed to operate your account; it does not run third-party advertising or cross-site tracking pixels.
9. Children's Privacy
Our service is not directed to individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn we have collected data from a child under 16, we will delete it promptly.
10. International Data Transfers
Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers in compliance with applicable data protection laws.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
